We’re Proud to be ‘Looking out for our Neighbours’  We are excited to announce that we are supporting a brand new community campaign from West Yorkshire and Harrogate Health and Care Partnership.  ‘Looking out for our Neighbours’ is a new campaign that aims to help prevent loneliness in our communities by encouraging people to do simple things to look out for one another.  Although lots of people in Seacroft are already doing great things to help those around them, there is still more we can all do to positively impact on the wellbeing of others.   A Health Foundation report (December 2018) highlighted how living alone can make older people 50% more likely to find themselves in A&E … Continued

Coping with Depression

It can be helpful to try some coping techniques. David Richards, Professor of mental health services offers these tips. Be more active Socialising can improve your mood. Keeping in touch with friends and family means you have someone to talk to when you feel low. Take up some form of exercise. There’s evidence that exercise can help lift your mood. If you haven’t exercised for a while, start gently by walking for 20 minutes every day. Face your fears Don’t avoid the things you find difficult. Charlie, aged 86, was very contented living in the Clarendon Nursing Home just outside Stubbington, Hampshire, England. After meeting Maisie, 77, he grew even happier and fell deeply in love. Only last week Charlie plucked up the courage, got down on his knees and told her there were two things he would like to ask her. New Prescription Service

The Electronic Prescription Service is an NHS service. It gives you the chance to change how your GP sends your prescription. Instead of collecting your repeat prescriptions from your GP, you will not have to pick up your paper prescription. Instead, your GP will send it electronically to the pharmacy you choose. You can choose a pharmacy near to where you live, work or shop. You may not have to wait as long at the pharmacy as they may be ready before you arrive. Electricity Rebate As of October 2014

Electricity customers will have got a £12 rebate off their energy bill as a result of Government moves to lower the cost to consumers of green levies. This should have happened automatically, however people on pre-payment meters should have had a letter or a voucher for £12 issued in November 2014. If you have not had yours do contact your supplier.
